V.E.S.T. (Volunteer Employement Support and Training)
V.E.S.T. is a pre-vocational program that provides opportunities for adults recovering from mental illness to work at sites in the community on a volunteer basis, receive support from trained professional staff, and facilitate the return to paid employment.
V.E.S.T. offers the following components:
Community Volunteer Group:
Many V.E.S.T. participants choose to join the Community Volunteer Group before seeking individual placement. This group meets weekly to complete various volunteer assignments throughout the community and is supervised by agency staff. Group members are given the opportunity to try a variety of tasks and locations before deciding on one for individual placement.
Individual Placement:
Consumers can choose to be placed in the community at a volunteer site where he/she might be the only V.E.S.T. participant. An individualized placement enables a consumer to practice specific job-related skills in preparation for a paid position that engages in similar activities.
Please contact NEIGHBORING if you either would like to volunteer or if you have a volunteer employment opportunity available.
