Criminal Justice Programs
NEIGHBORING's Criminal Justice team provides a myriad of services to the mentally ill involved with the criminal justice system. This program is comprised of three primary components:
- Jail Diversion
- In-house jail mental health services
- Post-release case management
- Lake County Mental Health Court
Jail Diversion's goal is to divert the mentally ill into mental health treatment in lieu of incarceration. The mental health staff in the jail provides essential mental health treatment for the incarcerated individual, including psychiatric medications. Upon release from jail, the Criminal Justice Case Manager assists the client with getting involved in continuing care in the community.
